A discreet 14-room villa · Buda Hills

Where Buda meets the Danube.

A fin-de-siècle Hungarian villa on the western hillside, restored over four years into fourteen quiet rooms above the city.

A villa, not a hotel

Egy ház a budai oldalon. Csendes, alacsony, hosszú időkre tervezett.

Originally built in 1898 as the family residence of an Austro-Hungarian railway engineer, the villa changed hands four times before sitting empty through the 1990s. Restored from 2019 to 2023, every original parquet floor, every brass window catch, and every plaster medallion was preserved. What's new is invisible: heating, plumbing, the lifts, the linens.

Fourteen rooms across three floors. No conference space. No banquet hall. A single restaurant, a single bar, and a small library on the second-floor landing. We took the long way to make it feel quiet.

Fourteen rooms · two suites

Rooms shaped by the original plan, not against it.

Every room is different. Some have the original tile stoves; some have private terraces toward the Danube; the two corner suites have separate sitting rooms and original ceiling frescoes. All of them have the same bed, the same towels, and the same quiet.

A small restaurant

Twenty-six seats. One menu. One sitting.

Chef Anna Kádár cooks one menu, one sitting, six nights a week. Modern Hungarian, anchored on whatever comes from the Csíkszentkirály farms that morning. Wine pairing built around five Hungarian regions.

"I cook the same way my grandmother did, with better tools and worse patience."

— Chef Anna Kádár, since 2023
